Dev here. I play Monster Hunter Now the same way you do: walking around, hoping the monster I need is somewhere in the neighborhood, and hosting lobbies that die while I wait for a fourth.
There's no official spawn map. Elder Dragons can't be tracked in-game. The lobby has no browser and no schedule. The fix the community came up with is megathreads, friend-code spreadsheets and Discord pings. Those work, sort of. I wanted something with a map and a push notification.
So I built one. You see a monster in the game, you pin it in the app: species, grade, where it's standing, when it despawns. If you're farming a specific monster, you save an alert, and when a hunter near you pins it, your phone buzzes with the distance and directions. If you're hosting, you post the hunt on the sighting, invite people by handle, and see who actually said yes before you start.
It's new. The map starts empty. The first pin in your town could be yours. If you try it, pin one monster on your next walk. That's how the map gets good.
